Poggenpohl Planted Aquarium, GDL 2013

In 2012 we created this 400 litre planted discus tank as part of Poggenpohls exhibition display at Grand Designs London.

 

Poggenpohl designed the space around the tank to show how an integrated aquarium can create a visual transition between two rooms.

The aquarium featured a dramatic aquascape, accented with epiphytic plants. The red Discus fish showcased in this display really added a vibrant contrast to the lush greens of the moss a Microsorum plants. Movement was injected into this feature with a shoal of 40 Rummy Nose Tetras, intentionally picked to contrast the colouration and markings of the red Discus.
